A new phenomenon in interference effect on catamaran dynamic response

Abstract Interference effect between catamaran demi-hulls has been considered as an adverse fluid-solid interaction; the narrower separation distance two hulls, greater drag force acts upon catamaran. However, this study is aimed at introducing a novel phenomenon contrasting outcome in semi-planing and planing regimes. As speed accordingly Froude number increase transits across different modes, free surface profile becomes complicated so does interference well prediction of dynamic response. The situation will be even more complex if demi-hull narrows where nonlinearity pronounced. So, free-running tests six degrees freedom obtaining fluid flow characteristics using computational dynamics were conducted for high-speed vehicle with asymmetric non-prismatic to tackle problem. results response reveal that not only reduced substantially up 15%, but also trim angle diminishes by 30% hulls decreases modes. In other words, increasing speed, decreasing 2.3o, current method achieved goal consequently reducing risk porpoising instability, without delivered power.
